To get protein we have to eat a lot of red meat, for calcium and Vitamin D we have to consume glasses of milk, egg, cheese etc. And we also have to eat vegetables and fruit in order to get Vitamin’s C and B, and smaller amounts of other vitamins. But, over the past two decades we have started questioning this advice. We are drinking less milk and substituting it with soymilk, we are using sunscreen to protect us from the sun.

The issue here is that scientists have found more and more deficiencies of Vitamin D in American adults. The amount of women and men who get sufficient amounts of Vitamin D had decreased by half between 2001 and 2004 and also between 1988 and 1994. It has been said that this may result from people spending less time in the sun, and more time indoors, and also using too much high sunscreen.

Past research has linked low vitamin D to an uncommon disease called Rickets in children. And amongst adults this has caused low bone density and teeth issues. Newer research posted in the Archives of Internal Medicine has linked Vitamin D deficiencies to other major health problems such as stroke, osteoporosis, diabetes, cancer, obesity, heart disease, immune issues, parathyroid problems etc.

Vitamin D is important because it is a building block for calcitrol, a hormone steroid in the body. It works together with other substances in order to renew the bones and tissue renewal. Your body can not make Vitamin D. Two sources of Vitamin D is direct sunlight and foods such as fatty fish.

The U.S. Food and Nutrition Board recommends that we have 2000 IU of Vitamin D every day. But studies have shown that adults may need as much as 5000 IU every day.

How can you tell if you have a Vitamin D deficiency? You may experience muscle pains, fatigue, depression, sleep problems, weak bones, low immunity, low energy, mood swings and fractures. People who has intestinal or kidney problems may also have low Vitamin D levels because they cannot absorb or convert the vitamin into calcitrol.

Ways to prevent or deal with Vitamin D deficiency;

Get enough exposure to the sun, in the mornings and afternoons.

Eat fatty fish, and eggs, milk and other dairy. And some meats like liver.

Take a multivitamin every day, including Vitamin D supplements.

Get annual blood tests which also test the levels of Vitamin D in your body.

<div

This priceless fruit is protected from deterioration by two layers. The only bad side is a high energy value, but this is why it’s great for children, athletes, the elderly and everyone with increased physical effort.

It has less fat than other nuts. Chestnuts, are also the only nuts that contain a measurable quantity of vitamin C. Unlike fruit walnuts, hazelnuts and beech, whose main ingredient is fatty oil, a major component part of the chestnut is starch (about 44% in raw nut).

Because of high starch content, chestnuts can be dried and ground into flour that can be used alone or mixed with wheat flower to make bread and biscuits. Chestnut flour, is gluten free and easy to digest therefore is perfect in the diet of elderly and children.

Chestnut also contains minerals, B complex vitamins as well as vitamins A and C. It’s rich in potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, chlorine, iron, copper, manganese. Since it’s rich in potassium and poor in sodium it’s recommended for people with kidney and blood illnesses.

Baked chestnut has higher energy value, a larger amount protein, fats, vitamins and twice more carbohydrates. Also, it contains vitamin E and phytochemicals not present in boiled chestnuts that contains larger amount of mineral substances.

Unlike sweet chestnuts, horse chestnut is not edible because of it’s bitter taste, but is famous it’s its medicinal properties. Coumarins. Flavonides. and Saponins are used in the production of pharmaceutical products – primarily for the blood vessels diseases treatment, such as enlarged veins, haemorrhoids and tromboflebitis.
<div

In literature the quince first appeared in the writings about the Greek wedding ceremonies from 6 century. BC, where the quince was a part of rituals in which it represented fertility, and was dedicated to goddess of love.

Allegedly pregnant women who consumed substantial quantities had more chance of giving birth to a son. Quince cultivation began in Mesopotamia, the area of present-day northern Iraq.

Quince tree is up to 7 meters tall and resembles apple tree. Bark is smooth and brown. Its leaves resemble the leaves of apples except for the edges and white/grey bottom side. It has a large light red to white flowers, that grow individually. The fruit has a bumpy form that resembles apples or pears, golden color and covered with fine white hairs which can be easily removed by hand. It can be grown in places where vine succeeds.

As a medicine quince is an excellent with anaemia. Mucus like substance prepared from it’s seeds is used in for wounds that occur in patients who have been laying for a long period of time (decubitus) and burns.
It is also used for compresses for inflamed eyes and cracked dry skin. Quince is a very good for inflamed tonsils and respiratory tract infections. Also boiled quince has a calming effect on inflamed stomach and digestive tract. It’s highly recommended for treatment of wounds and on the inside to ease heavy diarrhea.
<div

Onions, one of the oldest vegetables known to humankind even the Book of Numbers 11:5 suggests cultivation probably took place around four thousand years ago in ancient Egypt, at the same time that leeks and garlic were cultivated.

Clay plates from ancient Mesopotamia, proves its Asian origin. Since the very beginning of cultivation onion has never lost it’s popularity. According to the legend, in the middle ages knights worn onions under armour, as protection against bad luck.

Cutting onions pushes tears to your eyes. However, the irritation can be avoided. Try placing the onions in the refrigerator, about an hour before cutting,. There will be no tears, because the low temperature slows the activity of enzymes that produces allyl sulfide (irritating substance which causes pain in your eyes).

The Onion is extremely rich in antioxidants, and the studies have shown that the onions with the strongest taste have strongest antioxidant powers. Onions contain chemical compounds with anti-inflammatory, anti cholesterol, anticancer, and antioxidant properties.

Usually the underground portion of steam and young leaves are used in meals as flavour additive. The amount of 10-20g give only 1-4 per cent of vitamin B group and E daily recommended allowance, at the same time this quantity supply with vitamin C (20 per cent of vitamin C daily recommended allowance) and carotenoids (20-50 per cent).
That is why you shouldnt throw the leaves away but use them to prepare fresh salad. People with sensitive stomach should cook the onions because they are most irritating in their fresh form.
<div

About a dozen of those species are native to warm and moderate areas of Europe, Asia and Africa. Mulberry tree is about 20 meters high with a round, rich top of the tree, and deeply cracked bark.

Complex fruit is actually a multiple fruit, 2-3 centimetres (0.8-1.2 in) long and like blackberry sweet in taste, without the expressed aroma and acidity, and a wide range of colors – from white, pink, red, dark red, dark purple to black depending on the species. The color doesn’t necessarily identify the species since the white mulberry can produce white, lavender or black fruit.

It’s usually planted along roads, in parks, around vineyards or in the backyard and lives up to 250 years. Mulberries ripen over an extended period of time unlike many other fruits which seem to come all at once.

The white mulberry is native to eastern and central China and it became naturalized in Europe centuries ago. In America it was introduced for silkworm culture. Red mulberry or American mulberry is native to eastern United States and the black mulberry is native to western Asia and has been grown for its fruits in Europe since before Roman times.

If you suffer from anaemia, dizziness, insomnia, and heart-palpitations, low libido, dry eyes or weakness, mulberry is the right fruit for you. It nourishes and enriches the blood, promotes production of body fluids and is proven to strengthen sight and prevent premature aging symptoms.

Mulberry fruit contains many nutritious elements such as vitamins and minerals but it also contain one main class of non-nutrient active constituents, the anthocyanins. These non-nutrient ingredients are proven to have a distinct health impact which is why mulberry can cure chronic diseases of the digestive tract, promote gastric juice secretion, strengthen the ability for digesting and assimilating, improve the appetite, and eliminate abdominal distention and constipation. Mulberry is also suitable for chronic gastritis and chronic hepatitis.
<div

When the prostate cancer cells from people were injected in mice who were fed rosehips the occurrence of cancer was delayed. Tumor growth was significantly slowed, and survival of animals was prolonged.<br

One soybean seed contains 36 to 40 percent protein, 15 to 23 percent of oil, close to 34 percent carbo hydrate, 3 to 6 percent mineral matter, and a significant number of vitamins.

Soybean seed is very rich in proteins, vitamins and minerals, also the products made from it are a rich source of these ingredients. Soy products can not be used as a replacement for other valuables for food items, especially not for foods of animal origin (meat, milk, eggs, fish), but are considered for foods, with equal place in the <a

While Western countries spend billions on developing new medicines, in the eastern countries, natural preparations got more attention.

The former Soviet Union and Romania were especially focused on Apitherapy. In Russia Apitherapy has been used for 60 years, in Romania 50 years, in Japan, for example, it has been used since 1920. Special attention is focused on bee venom acupuncture.

Honey is mostly used for fever, cold, sleep disorders, inflamed gums and pollen allergies. The best method is to take honey between meals. However, some have problems with the stomach. For this reason, it is recommended to use the honey with tea, (for instance herbal mixed tea).

It was noticed that the honey is excellent “transport material” for all other substances. If, for example, we take a pill with some honey, it’s action will be much faster than it would be without the honey. This is why tea with some honey in it is so good for cold.

It is recommends to mix 600g of honey with 300-400g of fresh pollen. One tea spoon 15 minutes before every meal is enough since the daily consumption of pollen should not exceed 30g. In the beginning it is recommended to take the honey/pollen mix after the meal since some time is necessary for digestive tract to adjust to pollen.

Propolis straightens and stimulates your defence mechanism, and it’s very good against depression. It helps you detoxify (against environmental factors, such as radioactive rays for example, and against internal toxins such as those that appear when you have problems with liver and kidneys). It’s Anti-viral and anti-bacterial powers are very well known.

Pollen is not recommended in people with diabetes, because it raises the level of sugar in the blood, people with increased emission of gastric acid should be cautious with pollen as well.

Pollen does not only contain many of the essential vitamins and trace elements, it has all the most important amino acids and therefore is the most important vegetable source of protein in general. As a result, the pollen is ideal for all those who removed meat products from their diet.

Protein content of 100g of pollen corresponds to the amount of 500g veil meat or 7 eggs.
It is of special importance to use fresh or fresh frozen pollen, because unlike dry pollen it contains a lot of enzymes, for our organism to use instead of its own while processing food.

Also it is important to use pollen properly, because otherwise you can not take advantage of it’s important ingredients. Therefore it is advised to stir in the pollen in honey and leave it for 14 days to grow, because only then the so-called exines, very solid skin that protects pollen seed can be broken.

Exines are so strong that they are able to maintain and preserve the pollen grain for centuries. With similar mixtures you can treat chronic pollen allergies and allergic rhinitis. They should take honey / pollen mixture in winter period.
<div

Dr. Conney, Professor of Pharmacology at the University of New Jersey, and his team conducted clinical trials using a caffeinated lotion on mice. They exposed 90 hairless mice to high dosage of UV rays twice a day, for 20 days.

Then the mice were divided into three groups. One group was treated with caffeine solution, second one was treated with epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG solution extracted from green tea, and a third group wasn’t treated at all.

With large dose of UV rays all mice suffered skin cancer. Treatment with caffeine reduced cancerous tumors by 72% and non cancerous tumors by 44%. Treatment with EGCG reduced cancerous tumors by 66%.

Unlike sunscreen of SPF, which protect the skin by absorbing UV rays, caffeine acts directly on cells. Apparently caffeine is capable of blocking the genetic changes in cells, and it seems that caffeine acts selectively, only to diseased cells. If clinical trials confirm this discovery we can freely say that a new method for skin cancer prevention is discovered.
<div
